NJ Permit to Carry


In this 2-3 hour class, I will discuss firearms and range safety, various methods of concealment, drawing techniques, equipment options, state laws, and use of force. This course will conclude with the CCARE qualification to satisfy all NJ ADMIN CODE (N.J.A.C. 13:54-2.4) requirements.

Required Course of Fire

This Course will meet the NJ Civilian Carry Assessment Range Evaluation (CCARE) qualification requirements.

The course of fire is 50 rounds total with no time limits. Details below.

5 rounds (x2) at 15 yards

5 rounds (x2) at 10 yards

5 rounds (x2) at 7 yards

5 rounds (x2) at 5 yards

5 rounds (x2) at 3 yards


Each string of fire will be shot from concealment (AIWB, OWB, IWB) on FBI Q targets.

The qualification MUST be performed with a pistol that you legally own.

This is NOT an entry level firearms course. You must score 80% or higher to pass the qualification (CCARE) and will get two attempts.

Specific follow up training is available for new shooters struggling to pass the required qualification, or new shooters who require handgun training prior to the class.

  • Driver’s License / NJ FID (Not required for out of state residents)

  • Handgun you plan to use for qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 magazines for a Semi Automatics

  • Speed Loaders for Revolvers

  • Mag Pouch (preferred but optional)

  • 100 rounds of factory loaded ammunition

  • Eye & Ear Protection (amplified preferred)

  • Concealable Holster

  • IWB (Inside Waistband) / OWB (Outside Waistband)

  • AIWB (Appendix)

  • NO Blackhawk Serpa Holsters

  • Appropriate Concealment Clothing

  • Open mind and good attitude!
